This route crosses the Gruyère region, blending lake scenery, living traditions, and remarkable heritage. South of Fribourg, the path follows the Sarine river and passes the 12th-century Hauterive Abbey, then meanders through fields, forests, and rural villages. Lake Gruyère soon appears, with the Moléson mountain rising above it. From May to October, a boat trip to Ogoz Island reveals castle ruins and a small chapel in a unique natural setting. In Pringy, a demonstration dairy showcases the making of Gruyère AOP. Above, the medieval town of Gruyères stands with its castle, ramparts, and cobbled streets. The route continues through blooming meadows, grazing animals, and traditional architecture. The villages of Grandvillard, Lessoc, and Montbovon mark the final stretch of a tranquil journey through authentic and unspoiled rural Switzerland.
